Junior team make Erne Cup final!

The Junior team made it to the final of Erne Cup 2 with a hard fought win over Lisnaskea, the second meeting between these two teams in a week. Newtown made all the early running with Conor Beggan playing some excellent football in the forward line. Niall Mohan and John Maguire were winning a lot of ball around midfield with the back line keeping a fast Lisnaskea forward line at bay. First half scores came from Conor Beggan and the impressive Shane Leonard amongst others.

The second half continued with a high work rate around the Newtown team, Lisnaskea tried frantically to get back into the game and added a succession of scores, which were quickly cancelled out with some excellent scores at the other end. Pauric Mullaney got the score of the half, a high ball excellently collected by Pauric under heavy pressure, who then fed Brian McCaffrey. Brian created some space and played it back to Pauric who dispatched to the bottom corner of the net. Newtown withstood some late pressure to record a 7 point victory. They now play Irvinestown in the league final and also play Teemore in a promotion/relegation play off.
